Not 2 Shaggy Housecall Dog Grooming was volunteering again at Georgia Animal Rescue & Defense (GARD). We had the priviledge of grooming a more exotic breed; the Powder Puff Chinese Crested. The Chinese Crested is acutally a hairless breed of dog and the Powder Puff is the Chinese Crested that has a full coat of silky fur. China was rescued from a puppy mill and was skin a bones. With a little TLC, she will fill out. She is a very lovable pup that will make a wonderful addition to a lucky person's home.
China Before
China at first glance seemed to be a quick brush out and style. Not so.... with silky coats you must brush brush brush. As a result of her neglect, she had several mats. De-matting dogs is always a tedious task for both the dog and the groomer. If your dog has a matted coat, always expect to pay more for the grooming session. Three hours later China was dematted, washed, conditioned and styled......... and that's Not 2 Shaggy!

Remember pooch parents that have silky coated breeds to brush your dog daily to avoid mats in the coat.
Powder Puff Chinese Crested breed standard is a long coat with a shaved face and ears. Since China was so thin we decided to keep a full face and give a style that would be easy to manage until she gets her forever home.
